Understanding the Multiple List Service

The local Multiple List service is known as MRIS (Metropolitan Regional Information Systems). This service encompasses several states on the Eastern seaboard, including Maryland.

MRIS is a central computer system where Realtors within the service area place their listings for sale. All participating Realtors can access listings for their buyers posted by all other participating Realtors within the MRIS multi-state service area. Realtors can quickly and easily search this database of listed homes for sale using their buyer’s criteria such as area, style of home, price, and more.

There are over 5,000 MRIS members in the Baltimore area alone, providing a tremendous advantage in exposure and "findability" over a "For Sale By Owner" property. Approximately 86% of homes that have sold were sold via the Multiple List system - testimony to the importance and effectiveness of this powerful tool. Home Selling Assistance Experts provides full Multiple Listing service.
